Multi-Factor Authentication

Beginning November 16, 2009, Ephrata National Bank will implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for Internet Banking. This provides an additional layer of security for our customers who conduct financial matters online. It is also a federal requirement for internet banking.

What MFA Means for You

The MFA process that ENB will use involves a login/password combination and a secure access code. These two sets of information will be required to access your accounts online.

Once you provide your login/password and a secure access code, you will have the option to register your computer so you can access your accounts using only your login and password on that computer. Registering your computer requires our online banking system to put a secure token, or cookie, on your computer. If this cookie is removed, you will need to re-register your computer. For instructions on how to allow cookies on your computer, click here.

Any time that you attempt to access your online banking accounts from an unregistered computer, you will be required to provide both your login/password combination and a secure access code.

How Do You Get Your Secure Access Code?

Once the MFA process is activated, you will see an additional prompt on the login page asking you to select a delivery channel for your secure access code – either your email address or your phone number. Your contact information is pulled from the Internet Banking system, so it is important that you verify and update your information before November 15, 2009.

Step 1: Key in Login Id and Password and click LOGIN.

Step 2: Select your Secure Access Code Delivery preference from the options provided and click CONTINUE.

IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT YOUR SECURE ACCESS CODE:
1) For security purposes, it will not be left on voicemail if you choose phone delivery.
2) The access code is only good for 20 minutes from delivery.
3) Once the access code is used, it expires and cannot be reused.
4) You need a separate access code for each computer and each login that you wish to register.

Step 3: If you chose email delivery, open a new browser window and check your email for your secure access code.

If you chose phone delivery, you should receive a phone call within a few minutes with a generic message providing you a “Temporary Access Code”. For security purposes, the use of this code will not be disclosed in the call and the code won’t be left in a voicemail message.

Step 4: On the Online Banking site, key in the secure access code received by phone/e-mail and click CONTINUE.

Step 5: Choose whether or not to activate your browser and click CONTINUE.

If you choose to activate your browser, you will register your computer with a secure token (cookie) and you won’t need to continually request a secure access code to access your account. You should only do this if you’re comfortable with the level of security on your computer.
